Serving Schedule - LUNCH
(A take-out lunch is handed out 3 days a week in the Parking Lot at Second Presbyterian Church)

Lunch: Disciples' Kitchen provides
​(take-out)containers for the meals and all beverages ice tea, lemonade, coffee and water)


10:00-11:15
If the Serving Team needs to heat/bake prepared food and package it, plan to arrive between 10:00 and 10:30.  If meals are prepared, packaged and ready to distribute, serving team can arrive as late as 11:15.

Welcome and share a prayer together. 

11:30 – 12:00
Distribute the meals


12;00 - 12:30 
Clean-up and trash removal


  


Volunteer Eligibility Policy
  • Volunteers should be at least 12 years of age.
  • They should be trained in the policies and procedures if the soup kitchen before being able to serve. 
  • They should live by the same behavior policy that the clients are expected to live by.

Client Eligibility Policy
  • Anyone who would like a meal and behaves in an appropriate manner would be eligible for this service.
  • SIf there is enough food, serving teams may serve second helpings after
    ​12:00 (lunch) once everyone has been served.
  • No delivery of meals


On Site Monitors (Host/Hostesses)
  • On-site Monitors for lunches are currently members of Second Presbyterian Church but may include others in the near future who have completed monitor training.
  • Make sure volunteers show up and that they follow the proper procedures and policies each time we are open.
  • Make sure the facility is properly taken care of and the fellowship hall and kitchen are kept in proper order.
  • Be available to show groups how to operate equipment and find things.
  • Find emergency help when people do not show up.
  • Separate training is provided for monitors and they are strongly encouraged to attend.

Disciples Kitchen Behavior Policy
  • Keep your hands to yourself 
  • No bad language 
  • No smoking on the premises
  • No alcohol or drugs on the premises 
  • Keep your voice at a conversational level 
  • Respect other peoples’ space 
  • Respect the church property and facilities
  • Failure to obey these rules can lead to a person not being able to come back and use our services.
