Serving in the Kitchen
If you would like to participate
in serving meals, there are a few ways to become involved. The ministry is organized in serving teams,
each of which has a team leader. Leaders
and team members are trained in areas of acceptable dining hall behavior,
general safety, food and kitchen sanitation, security, and fire awareness. A packet with this material is distributed
for review to participating teams. Anyone
that serves is expected to become familiar with these policies. We also ask
that volunteers are 16 years or older, unless accompanied by a parent or legal
guardian. Training sessions are offered
periodically and all volunteers are encouraged to attend. It is not a requirement to attend training before
one can volunteer, but please download and read the policies if you have not attended training.
Serving Teams
In order to join the ministry with
a serving team, the following goals should be met:
1)
Each team shall
designate a Team Leader that will serve as liaison to the Board of Directors
2)
The Team Leader is
responsible for working with the scheduler to assign their serving days
3)
The Team Leader is
responsible for their team & duties associated with their assigned days
4)
Team should have at
least 6 members, one of which should be a male
5)
All members shall agree
to review and honor all policies and kitchen use guidelines
6)
Each team shall
provide the complete meal, serve, and clean up on their assigned day
Individuals
If you are not associated with a
church that sponsors a team, the simplest thing to do is contact one of the
team leaders at a church that has a team established and ask to serve with
them. A complete list of teams and
contact information is posted to the website and the serving calendar is also available on-line. A second way is to contact one of the
Advisory Board Members and work with them to be assigned times to serve with
one of the teams.

THANK YOU for your support! Disciples Kitchen is a volunteer-based organization, but there are still costs in running the two kitchens. Your donations go to operating costs (utilities, facilities, maintenance, equipment, supplies, communication, etc.). All food is provided and served by our volunteers.
